How can we help?

Getting the best highlights
How do I add a player quickly?
Open a video in Highlights, pause where the player is visible and tap their box. Tap Save as New Player, add their name (and team, position or notes if you like) and save. KudosReel learns what they look like from the video and finds them in other videos from then on.
KudosReel didn't find a player. What helps?
Film in 4K if your iPhone supports it, keep the phone steady (a small tripod helps), and get close enough that jersey numbers are readable. If a player still isn't found, pause where they're visible and tap their box once; KudosReel follows them from there and learns from it. Adding a few photos to the player, especially one of the back with the number, also helps.
The yellow box jumped to another player.
Pause where it's on the wrong player and tap that box to say “not them”. Tap the right player's box to add them. Clips marked “Check” are ones where KudosReel is less sure it's your player; give those a quick look.
How do I make a single reel?
In Highlights, under Share as, turn on “Combine into one reel” before exporting. Vertical framing and slow motion apply to every clip in the reel.
Games and reminders
I'm not getting game reminders.
Open the iPhone Settings app › Notifications › KudosReel and turn on Allow Notifications. Then check the game's Reminders section in KudosReel. Reminders that are already in the past aren't scheduled.
A video isn't linked to the right game.
Videos filmed during a game's time are linked automatically. For others, open the game, or Games › Not linked to a game, and choose Link. To move a video, long-press it on the game page and choose Move to Another Game.
Clips and storage
Where are my clips?
In the Clips tab, grouped by game, and in the Files app under On My iPhone › KudosReel › Clips. Use Save to Photos to add them to your library. On a Mac, use Show in Finder after exporting.
KudosReel is using a lot of storage.
Full game recordings are large, especially in 4K. Delete recordings you've finished with from the Files app (On My iPhone › KudosReel › Recordings), or clear cached analyses in KudosReel › Settings › Storage.
General
Does KudosReel upload my videos?
No. Recording, player recognition and highlight editing all happen on your device. Nothing is uploaded unless you choose to share a clip.
What does the “Great moment” star do?
Tap the yellow star while you record, right after something great happens. KudosReel keeps the moments just before your tap as a highlight, ranks it near the top and labels it “Your mark”, so a play it might otherwise miss, like a quiet goal or a great pass far from the camera, isn't lost. A mark counts for the players who were on screen at that moment. Marks are for games you record in KudosReel.
Which sports does it work with?
Any team sport where players wear numbered jerseys, at any level: your kid's soccer league, a high-school basketball game, or a pro football match you're watching from the stands. Soccer, basketball, football, lacrosse, hockey and more.
Can it follow more than one player?
Yes, as many as you like: siblings, teammates or a whole squad. Save each player once and KudosReel finds every one of them in a video, and never mixes up their clips.
Do I need photos of a player to set them up?
No. Pause any video where they're visible, tap them, and choose Save as New Player. Adding a few photos later is optional and can make recognition even more reliable.
Can I use videos I already have?
Yes. Pick a video from Photos or Files. If it was filmed during a scheduled game, it's filed under that game automatically. A video KudosReel didn't record needs a few minutes before its highlights are ready, and a Mac gets it done about twice as fast as an iPhone.
Why record with KudosReel instead of the Camera app?
Highlights from a game you record in KudosReel are ready as soon as you stop, with nothing to wait for. You can also tap the star during the game to mark great plays. Videos from the Camera app or someone else's phone work too; they just take a few minutes first.
What do I need?
An iPhone running iOS 17 or later to record games. Newer iPhones that record in 4K give the best results, because jersey numbers are easier to read. KudosReel also runs on a Mac with macOS 14 or later, which finds highlights in videos you import faster still.
